Replacement Minihumbuckers for Schecter Hellcat?

I have a Schecter Hellcat VI which Duncan Designed MH-102 mini-humbucker pickups. The guitar is like a Fender Bass VI, tuned an octave lower than a standard guitar. I'm looking to upgrade to Seymour Duncan pickups and wanted to know which ones you recommended: SM-1, SM-2, or SM-3 pickups. I don't know which would sound best considering the guitar is like a bass. Also since the guitar has three pickups, which do I use in the middle; a neck or bridge pickup?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks!

Mark

Mini Hot P-Rails Metal Blackouts with special over-wound coils, a magnet-swap, and the 36-volt mod!

What tone are you going for? I use the SM-1n in my Epi Alleykat and had it in my Tele for a while as well. This one is pretty low output with a lot of air, chime, and sparkle to the tone. Personally, I would use those in the neck and mid with the Custom Mini in the bridge.

The challenge is knowing what the pickups will sound like in a bass. I've owned a fair number of guitar pickups, but I'm pretty clueless when it comes to bass pickups.

So what tone am I looking for? The most bass-like tone :) I love the sound of a J bass, but I don't know if I can get close to that sound.

BTW, the Hellcat has a coil-split switch, so I'll be using the pickups both humbuckers and single coils.

SM-1's won't split. I've never used any of them tuned low, so I'm afraid I won't be of much help.

I got a duncan designed mini-bucker if you want to try one for 20 bucks.
