Replacement neck for a Jazz Bass.

Sometime this year I'd like to replace the neck on my old Jazz bass. The current neck has an unrepairable bow in it. I am really out of the whole bass thing as far as knowing what's good and what's not so I'm open to any ideas. At first I was thinking Warmoth but I read a thread (and saw pictures) that were rather questionable as far as fret placement. They did'nt use the necks center line for the fret slots but rather the side of the neck which of course, is not perpendicular to the center line which means the fret slots are cut at an angle. Not good. Any help would be great. Thanks

Fender will do a direct replcement neck I believe. It would require you having to go through a dealer, but they will do that sort of thing and may be sympathetic to you if it's obvious that the defect is something they couldn't of known about but did happen anyway. I'm not saying it'll be free, but it should make the process a little easier since it's a legitimate problem rather than doing something like tightening a replacement tuner too hard and cracking the wood.

I know Mighty Mite makes replacement parts, but nothing about their quality.

Honestly, if I were in your position, I'd be inclined to either go with Warmoth and make the transaction with them knowing I'm going to be eyeballing the unit when it comes to me and if I'm not happy, it's going back, or getting ahold of a local builder to put something together for me.
