Replacement of pickups and Floyd Rose

Hey!

Really need some help...

I own a Washburn Dime 333 Signature guitar. I'm not satisfied with the pickups. I've tried an Emg-81 in the bridge but it was to trebly. Currently I have a Dimarzio Air-zone installed, but it's a little to muddy on the low strings. What will you recommend I try out for a bridge pickup? The guitar is made of: Body: Alder, fingerboard: Rosewood.

Also, I'm thinking of installing an Alnico II Pro in the neck. What is your opinion on that?

Finally: Anyone who knows if it is possible to replace the stock Floyd Rose (of the earlier mentioned guitar) with an Original Floyd Rose, without having to make additional holes in the Body? (The stock Floyd Rose is a Washburn-600-S)

Really hope you can help...

Allan

Re: Replacement of pickups and Floyd Rose

Forgot to tell what kind of sound I'm looking for. I'm a big fan of Guns N' Roses, Van Halen, Metallica, Pantera and the likes, so I need a pickup that fits this kind of music.

I would say custom to cover those. Those tones are using very different gear. The custom has med/high output but very versitile and sounds great.
The A2 pro is a great neck pup. Warm but articulate. Slash uses one so if you want his neck tone get it. It will do so much more though.

The EMG-85 would get my vote, particularly if you liked the 81 apart from it's shrill upper end. A lot of people overlook the 85 for the bridge but that's the slot I believe it was made for. You'll get a fuller sound than the 81 and without the shrill upper end. Also, it's versatile enough to pull off all the sounds you seem to e looking for.

By the way wlecome to the forum!

Thanks...been following the forum for a couple of weeks now.

I was thinking about a SD Custom too, as a bridge pickup...Along with the Alnico II Pro in the neck position...I think that would make a great match...at least I hope so ;)
