Replacing a Jazz SH-2n with a Screamin' Demon

What could I expect when swapping a Jazz neck for a Screamin' Demon in the neck position of a Les Paul?

It's not that I don't like the Jazz, but I find it a bit bland when changing between pickups. I have a Screamin' Demon in the Bridge and I really like it, so I was thinking about having a Demon in each spot.

The Jazz by itself is a sweet spank to it, but I switch pickups a lot and something is missing. When I solo, I tend to switch between the pickups depending on where I am on the neck, at any particular time. So I really loose a lot of cut when I do this. It's like the Jazz needs to be twice as loud as the demon, to make up for it. Since I am an audio engineer, I know it's not always volume that helps you to be heard, it's EQ.

I just would like to know, if I would get a more rude tone from the demon in that position (in a good way). Also looking for a bit more cut from it (I am talking EQ wise) The Jazz seems to be lacking some upper midrange, that I am looking for, to balance from one pickup to the other.

any experience or thoughts are welcome. btw it's a 1991 LP Standard so .22 caps standard Pots, which I think are 300K. The pots are definitely not 500k, I can now hear that difference.

Not sure, but I would guess that there would be a volume drop when switching back to the bridge, but I could be wrong. What about the Full Shred neck pup?

I think I can balance the volume thing with pickup height. I mean, back in the day, Gibson just used the same pickups in both spots. As far as the Full Shred goes, I have used that pickup in another LP and while I liked it, I was not in love with it. It is gone now. The Jazz kind of reminds me of it actually. If I had to compare the Jazz and the FS neck (from what I remember), I would say the FS has a bit more grit to it (so it would be going in the right direction). EQ wise I think they are in the same ball park, where the Jazz has Spank and is a bit polite, the Full Shred has Grit and is a bit rude (not as rude as a Pearly Gates though).

Sounds like you will be pleasantly surprised with the Demon in the neck.

Ok did it, it's installed. Right out of the gate, I like the crunch the SD offers in the neck compared to the Jazz. Only playing in a band setting will allow me to judge for sure, so I will report back. I am not getting rid of the Jazz either. I am gonna put that in another LP, when I get a SH6n to pair it up with in the bridge. The Jazz neck is an awesome pickup, It just didn't jive with the Demon to well switching back and forth. Although the Jazz is bright, it is very full sounding. With the extra cut of the Demon, I think a neck pickup with extra bite is in order. The Jazz kinda just sounded flat when switching pickups mid solo.
