Replacing bridge and tailpiece in Epiphone Les Paul

I can't get along with that Epiphone bridges and their loose saddles and specially that metal wire that holds the screws.

In my SG, I replaced the bridge, the tailpiece and the studs with Gotoh's. Now, I'm planning to do the same thing with my new les paul, but I was just wondering.

Replacing the tailpiece is also necessary or just getting a new bridge will do the job?

Replacing the studs is necessary?

Since I've done all at once in my SG, I can't compare the differences.

Thank you!

They're likely the same if they are both Epiphone.

I like the lightweight Gotoh aluminum tailpiece and I've installed several of them on my Gibson Les Pauls. You can order the metric sized part for Epiphones from Stew-Mac.

Babicz FCH is what I put in every TOM guitar I buy , once installed and setup properly you are done forever. Also will make your guitar more resonant acoustically which translates to a better sound plugged in.

It is possible to replace the bridge only and leave the stock tailpiece with fine results.

Replacing the studs is not always necessary either. Some bridges use a different size and they will have to be replaced.

A friend of mine once had the same issue with a Gibson USA Tune-o-Matic bridge. His solution was to set the intonation then apply shellac to the bridge saddle screws in an attempt to lock everything in position. I cannot remember how long he persisted with this.

Thank you. Never really thought about using the aluminium one. About the metric sized from stewmac, that's where I bought the ones for my SG.

It seems great, but I'm surely not spending that kind of money right now in this guitar. =)

I know it can be done, my only question is that the upgrade is better when replacing everything. It seems that the studs that come with the Gotoh are a lot better quality.
