Replacing EMG 35Hz

Re: Replacing EMG 35Hz

As far as I know, the passive HZ series is available only in black.

Although EMG-looking plastic covers are available to slip over conventional, open-bobbin guitar humbuckers and single coils, attempting to change the cover on any resin-potted pickup would almost certainly destroy the innards of the pickup.

Re: Replacing EMG 35Hz

Yeah, I took an HZ apart. It doesn't come apart easily. In fact, I advise against it. I only wanted the magnet out of it, and it's a good thing, because once you get the baseplate off, you've ripped the coil wires out of their board solder points.
As well, they are literally filled to the rim with epoxy.

What I am actually thinking of doing is putting a single coil quarter pound P bass under a cream cover in a les paul style bass. I just dont know where to get the cover, or if someone already makes something like this.

Re: Replacing EMG 35Hz

I have seen guitar humbucker-sized EMG-lookalike plastic covers but only in black.

Might as well get two QPs and pretend that you have a Musicman.
