I wonder how many people the 'fear of soldering' has actually stopped from changing their pickups. Most people (like me) got over that as the need for a better sound superseded the fear of learning a new skill. Besides, knowing Gibson, they trademarked some aspect of the connector preventing every other company from coming up with a system that uses it.

Mine have double sided tape rather than sleeves over the connector board and were a few bucks cheaper.

If mine didn’t have 500k push-pull pots I would have ripped it out to start over, and may still go that way if I do a fluence install.

I’m going this way until I decide what pickups I like best, rather than having to re-solder several times, but the bare wire to plugs are even cheaper.

I’m sure there’s a source for the molex connector and pins but I’m not gonna chance getting the wrong one then buy a tool to crimp on pins and have to bulk order a ton of stuff just for 2 pickups.

You can easily find guys on eBay selling quick connect adapters for Gibson guitars- either a soldered plug connection or a solderless like Seymour Duncan - I’ve done it a few times- I have the soldered plug on my Duncan Slash set, and solderless on my dimarzio deactivator set.

Now it takes 10 minutes to do a total pickup change

But that said, you need to get a set of jeweler's crimp pliers to work with those damn connectors. They're infuriating to work with when using normal tools. Heck, they're still infuriating with jeweler's tools, but it's easier. Lol
