Replacing my Boss DS-2?

Re: Replacing my Boss DS-2?

Careful with the MXR distortion+ astrozombie.
I am not trying to say the dist+ is a bad pedal, that's not the case, but as a stand alone box, the dist+ is not too much of a heavy distortion imho. It's real good at pushing an already driven amp even further, but as a stand alone box, imho it gets closer to an OD then to a heavy distortion. In fact the circuit of the dist+ does not differ too much from the DOD250.

Once more, I am not trying to say the dist+ is a bad pedal, but only trying to warn you that as a stand alone box, it is not that much of a heavy distortion type imho ;)

Seems like you'd be better off with a Distortron than the BoR. As much as I love my Box, it doesn't seem to me like Astro would benefit from having the boost side. That's also an extra $70 in his pocket. So, Distortron.

lol i always forget the two are different things. i actually really like the distortron better myself, what with the subs and gain switches. more gain and less bass than the standard BoR setting with the gain up about 2/3 is a great rhythm tone!

OK, what about the Boss ST-2. Seems to cover all the bases and can be had for a small investment.

I think proguitarshop.com has a review of it.
