Replacing Sustainiac with passive pickup

About 8 months ago I purchased the Schecter blackjack SLS with the Sustainiac pickup. I've decided that I really don't like the sound of the neck pickup when the sustainiac is not activated. I've been conflicted about this because I hate to not use a 250$ sustain driver but I'm really thinking about just taking it out and putting in a real neck pickup. I've found that aside from messing around with it, I don't really use it in any practical application.

So my question is, could it be as simple as just wiring the pickup in like any other pickup and just making sure the switch for the sustainiac is off? I'm really hoping it's that simple. I figure if I have a project later on where I want the sustainiac I can just swap them out temporarily.

Advice is appreciated!

Welcome to the forum!

You can take out pretty much the active circuit dedicated to the Sustaniac. I am not sure of the value of the pots used, or what you can do with the other switch holes, but essentially, I would take it all out, and start from scratch so I knew what I was looking at. I bet the control cavity is a bit of a mess right now.
