Replacing the neck on a crappy Ibanez

Hey,

So my first guitar was an Ibanez GRX45, a super-strat ripoff. I've had it for 8 years, and of course the frets are worn to ****, but I don't wanna just throw it to the junk pile. I'm thinking of replacing the neck, is there any reason I can't just buy a nice neck from Warmoth or USACG? Should I specifically buy an Ibanez replacement or would anything really work?

Thanks a ton,
Jacob

Re: Replacing the neck on a crappy Ibanez

like a lot of companies the necks on Ibanez's are made for Ibanez's... the necls Warmoth and some of the other part makers/sources fit Fender Spec stuff...

if you have to really have a new neck for that guitar EBAY'ing a neck may help but be careful... don't want to end up with a twisted neck or anything from the ebay...

in the end i'd say it could be cheaper to get another axe...

ps... it may cost $250 to get the neck refretted... if you really want that guitar back in action that may be the best way to go in the end...

I have a few Ibanez necks I have used warmoth bodies with (all non locking trem guitars) and they basically fit. I've never put a warmoth neck on an Ibanez body though.

I think traditional rectangular heel.

If it is rectangular, you should measure it. This is the heel size that Strats use, and is the Warmoth standard heel:
