Replacing V-Mod bridge pup

Opinions on Lil '59T, Quarter Pounder and Hot Tele STL-2, hard rock style. To replace the new V-Mod bridge pup in Prof.Telecaster. Will the STL-2 give enough bottom end? I like the V-Mod but just lacking a little bit of power in the bottom end. Sound samples on the SD website are ok but reviews and youtube vids (especially comparison clips) are hard to find, especially the STL-2. Thanx for sharing your thoughts on this!

Welcome to the forum!

The Quarter Pound and STL-1 pickups still sound like a Tele pickup, but the QP has more lows, while the STL-1 is more mids...both sound about the same output to me. The Little 59 sounds closer to a regular PAF-style humbucker, which is great for hard rock, but it sort of abandons the idea of being a Tele pickup at all- it doesn't sound like one. So you sort of have to decide what is important.

Thanx for the reply, but I didn't mention the STL-1, it's all about the STL-2 :)
I always keep coming back to the soundbytes @ the SD website. That's where the STL-2 sounds waaay better than the other two, even fuller, meatier.
But I can't imagine that would be the case in real life though. Don't know how they make those samples but perhaps different setups give a false idea of their true identity.
That's why I thought 'let me check the SD forum for people who actually played them' before I buy the STL-2 on impulse ;)

OOps, I mistyped..I mean STL-2. I still stand by my statement, though. Videos and soundclips are really all we have, unless you've used them before. If you live in the US, there is an exchange policy that can help if you buy the 'wrong' one for your application. If you live outside the US, check the return policy of your local SD dealer. The STL-2 has more true mids, so that might explain the 'meat'. The Little 59 is scoopier, while the Quarter Pound sounds like it has more bass and lower mids...but some scoop in the true mids.
