Requesting advice on middle pickup selection

Hi I have a 1987 RG550 I've refinished/completely rewired etc. Love the JB in bridge works well with music I like to play/amp (high gain...EVH, Satriani etc etc)

However, for a middle single pickup I'd like something that really cleans up nicely. Not looking for "quack". More in line with a rich acoustic sound. So, something that will help with that. Not interested in blending the pickup with the JB...or with the neck (haven't decided on neck pup yet). I want something I can fingerpick with that will give a nice full glassy sound. No interest in getting any kind of distorted sound from it. I have really good shielding in place.

Any suggestions are really appreciated.

A Cool Rails might fit that bill. I love those pups, and noiseless.

And welcome to the forum. :)

Thanks. I was thinking like a custom or classic stack plus...Cool Rails would have similar tone just hotter/louder?

I don't actually think of a Cool Rails as "hot". But they do have a unique "spank" and "punch" that no other pup I've tried has. YMMV.

Classic Stack Plus sounds like a good single coil, with expanded high end. You get the quack and the strat-ness. The Cool Rails is more like the Jazz humbucker, a scoopy open sound that sounds like the ideal clean humbucking sound.
