I don't think "48k of dampened electron flow" would have been a great way of letting guitar players know that there is a ton of fine wire on these bobbins.
99% of pickup manufacturers equate resistance with certain sonic parameters or a "sound".
It's common knowledge that it's a lot easier to get an immense sound out of higher resistance pickup than a lower resistance one (an "immense sound" isn't about accentuated treble frequencies).

No, you are reading resistance=sound. Resistance does affect sound and so the equation isn't off base.
I get what you are saying though... talking about resistance is always tricky.

It's noble of you to come to their defense, but they include the words "of immense sound", meaning the quantity of sound, not the quality of sound.
It just goes to show the two facedness of the pickup makers. Face A) pickups are deeply complicated systems that require years of experience to master, there are numerous variables to account for, don't read too much into the specs. Face B) RESISTANCE EQUALS OUTPUT, LOL!
It's not just that ad spot that's misinformative, but the fact that it's often the only spec they publish about a pickup, while usually omitting inductance, Q, peak resonance, measures of mV output, etc.
And then you get people on these forums who are incredulous whenever anyone comes along with this bit of misinformation that's perpetuated by the pickup makers ("resistance =/= output, it's basic electronics! read a book")

I know I can't see why anyone would give up an opportunity to argue with Drex. Who doesn't love spinning in circles chasing crooked "well I think it's likes this so it is so" logic.
