resistance=sound. Resistance does affect sound and so the equation isn't off base.
It's noble of you to come to their defense, but they include the words "of immense sound", meaning the quantity of sound, not the quality of sound.
It just goes to show the two facedness of the pickup makers. Face A) pickups are deeply complicated systems that require years of experience to master, there are numerous variables to account for, don't read too much into the specs. Face B) RESISTANCE EQUALS OUTPUT, LOL!
It's not just that ad spot that's misinformative, but the fact that it's often the only spec they publish about a pickup, while usually omitting inductance, Q, peak resonance, measures of mV output, etc.
And then you get people on these forums who are incredulous whenever anyone comes along with this bit of misinformation that's perpetuated by the pickup makers ("resistance =/= output, it's basic electronics! read a book")
