Hey all. My first guitar was a Peavey Predator swamp ash guitar (about 12 years ago). Was originally white untill I decided to sand it down (about 10 years ago
). So now I am missing my fender style body and want to restore this back up to new, and figure hey, what a good time to try some new pickups! So far what I am going to do is buy a new pickguard, and I think I will use this as a project guitar and attempt to paint it myself. Also might buy a new neck from warmoth =).
So now comes to the choice of pickups. For the bridge I think I want some crushing "bassy" distortion sounds, for metal and progressive type playing. For the mid pickup, I am not sure, its been so long since I have had a mid pickup, I cant remember what they sound like =). Maybe something bluesey sounding, or vintage, giving maybe some soft distorted highs for good sustain. And for the neck I want a mega-super clean pickup. The kind you can wail on, and get no signal distortion at all. But I also want to have a well defined low end and softer upper end for it as well. I guess the latter of the neck pickup is more important than the super clean, as I can always roll the volume knob back
.
Any suggestions? I am a noob when it comes to single coil =(
