RetroChannel RetroWreck Amplifier

Re: RetroChannel RetroWreck Amplifier

I've been reading up on the RR1 for a few days now and have to say I was blown away by the clips before I knew it was SS...it blows my mind that they have done this with a SS amp.

It's also amazing to me that they will have a street price of $975 and the head weights 6 lbs!

As for the Lab Series comparison...sorry, don't see that at all and I used to own a Lab Series amp...it felt and sonded SS, that RR1 sure doesn't sound SS...

Mine reacted very much like a tube amp, in that I could coax varying degrees of dirt out of them just by how hard a played. They also cleaned up very nicely, when I rolled back my guitars volume. I had a collection of L5 combos, some of which were taken out and used as heads. Maybe you had a different model?

Regardless, I want one of these amps!!!!

Anybody hear about a release date?

It's coming soon (hopefully this year) but Destroy All Guitars will be the only dealer for a bit...

There is also going to be a combo version with built in reverb and a new magnet speaker that will weight in at 12 pounds and they are also working on a "D Style" amp too...

Re: RetroChannel RetroWreck Amplifier

975 isnt really that cheap though but it does sound good!

In a world of $2500 mid priced amps, $975 for a handmade, in the USA amp is a pretty solid deal...factor in that the RR1 is voiced to capture the tone and feel of an amp that if you can find one for sale you will shell out 25-30k and all sudden $975 seems like a give away.

Just my 2 cents...

I'm impressed. Sounds pretty damn good.

I don't really like the looks of them, but I like the way they sound.

Did anyone else just die laughing like me while watching the second video between 3:52 and 4:05?

"Tune your E string down to D if you want to and sound like the devil"

Re: RetroChannel RetroWreck Amplifier

I really wish I didn't hear this amp... I kept trying to say 'nah it sounds like SS' but I can't. It sounds like a $4000.00 dollar boutique tube amp in the clips... and then it doesn't need tubes and all. I may have just found an amp worth saving for.

Talk about the PERFECT gigging amp. Don't even need a cab!

Re: RetroChannel RetroWreck Amplifier

Holy ****....That does sound amazingly good...Not just for a SS amp either, just good period. I mean at least the clips sound really good, really won't know until we actually play one. Ya know?

The live stuff he did with his band sounded good also...
