Reverb anyone?

Well I'm going to be in the need of a good reverb shortly, my new amp doesn't feature reverb (only negative imo) and I really don't know which reverbs to look at. I've heard the electro harmonix holy grail is pretty good and the holier grail is better, but pricy. What reverbs do you guys recommend that aren't going to break the bank, I've spent too much in the last wk due to GAS.

Man, that's the biggest pain in my gas .... same prob AOR doesnot have a reverb .... Just played Holy Grail through a JCM800 2203X reissue .... sorry, its good but it muddies things up quite a bit, I've heard that the best things are rack units by Furhman and Peavey from the eighties, tube reverbs that is. I am about to give up alltogether and get an analog delay like Ibanez AD-9 or Carlm Marins Red Tape .... like a said biggest pain in my gas.

If you have a switchable FX loop (on/off) the Yamaha magic stomp has great sounding verb and delays. It has a few pitfalls, the switching is slow, the first version needs USB connection and software to edit all parameters (version 2 can be done on the unit itself). Its bypass isn't as clean sounding as I would like (that would be the reason for the FX loop quesiton).

They do excel at great sounding effects. Set up the few patches you like, put it in the loop, switch on and off as needed. Works great like that.

They blew them out at $80 about a year ago and you will still see few floating around used. There was just one posted a week or so ago the the Trading Post.

I have the Verbzilla as well. Its a great pedal for what I need. I use just the spring setting. It sounds very realistic. The only negative I have with mine is when the gain increases so does the verb. IF I kick in a OD pedal in certain situations I have to adjust the verb a little.... no biggie but other than that the pedal is very very good!

Love this pedal and I only use mine through my Marshall head when I need clean....When the Marshall grinds,it doesn't need reverb and so I shut the pedal off.... ;o)

Does anybody care for a lush, analog reverb anymore? Never a Line6 in my signal path.

Verbzilla is definitely the best pedal, but I really, really like the TC Electronic G-Major and M-One. Such lush verbs and chorus'... makes my head spin.

for convenience i use the verbzilla which is a nice pedal, when tone counts i use my fender tube unit. the ease of use for the line 6 is great and it sounds pretty damn good. not perfect but close enough for stage work

I actually prefer the Verbzilla to the stand alone Fender tube unit because the Fender eats up a little of the guitar signal and weakens it. The guitar has less drive coming out of the Fender unit than it had going into it. Not a huge diff but enough that it's always bothered me. Lew

true, i always forget that i modded mine to keep the signal level stronger out the back end.

Wow, I never expected so many line 6 lovers on this forum, I would have guessed everyone would point me to analog. Well I guess I know what my next pedal purchase is gonna be.

Well...my VERY FAVORITE reverb is blackface Fender reverb when it's built into the amp as on a Twin Reverb or Super Reverb or Pro Reverb or Vibrolux Reverb or Deluxe Reverb amp. For me, that's the very best. But in terms of a pedal, the Verbzilla comes closest to getting that blackface reverb tone of any pedal I have owned or tried.

There's alot of adjustment available and I can pretty much nail the tone of a blackface Fender amp's reverb. Not 100% but close enough that I don't think about it and can just relax and play...which is something that was not true of the Boss RV-3 I previously used. I was always slightly distracted by the slightly tanky metallic and artificial tone of the Boss, even though it was still a very good reverb pedal.

I wasn't that into Line 6 until I saw Adrian Belew play last year...but he got an undeniably great tone and that's when I started looking into the Line 6 stuff.

I don't use the Line 6 amps...I use old Fender amps. And some of my real old Fenders like my '51 Super and '58 Deluxe don't have reverb. So I use the Verbzilla set for the '62 Spring Reverb setting with those amps.

i wouldnt say im a line 6 lover either. i got a free echo park module when i got my verbzilla. i used it once and put it away, it didnt cut it.

the verbzilla is the only digital piece of gear that i use and it isnt perfect but like lew i have a few amps that dont have reverb, mostly old fender tweed circuts and sometimes i like a little reverb with them. i really like my fender tank better, in a blind test i picked it every time even with my sneaky friends messing with me. the verbzilla has 90% of the tone but is easier to use and smaller making it much more convenient.

if you get one, you need a power supply. they eat a 9v in a few hours

Yeah......... I'm figuring that out John. Ginding it really doesn't need Verb>
