Reverb in a pedal????

Until now i relied on racks for all my delays/reverbs but since i decided to build a pedalboard and have almost completed it i found out that i would need a reverb pedal cause it wouldn't be a good idea carrying the pedalboard plus a rack unit for the reverbs......
So i went the classic way and looked at the boss RV 3 and RV5 and they seem like a good solution........Can you provide with any other possible solutions for a reverb in a pedal???

IMHO, The Boss RV-3 is the best, and a collectors item that can only be found on Ebay.

i checked the verbzilla, listened to the sound samples (pretty good i must say) but i am not willing to spend 150 euros for a pedal......i already own racks that can do good (or better) reverbs.....

You could check out the EH holy grail. About $50 US cheaper than the verbzilla.

I have one. It's the best reverb in a pedal that I've found. I do like the Boss RV-3 too...want to buy mine? :laugh2: I like the Verbzilla more.

I have an old Boss RV-2, and a DigiTech DigiVerb. The DigiTech sounds better and is free of noise, but the newer Boss RV-5 is awesome. It is loaded with features, and it sounds great. The Electro-Harmonix Holy Grail also has a really good sound, but it is a little simplified, which some people prefer. My 2 recommendations for reverb are usually the RV-5 and the Holy Grail, depending on how many knobs you like. The DigiTech is a great choice also because it has almost the same features as the RV-5, but it costs the same as the Holy Grail. The one feature that makes the RV-5 really cool is the stereo ins and outs, which is useful if you are running a fully stereo signal.

When i think pedal-reverb, i think (& love) EHX Holy Grail !!!


The Holier Grail is kick-arse too, but i did not have enough $'s at the time, so i took the Holy Grail - truely heavenly (...this side of the stand-alone Fender all-valve reverb-tank :smokin: )

Check out DanElectro's TankVerb(or something like that, from what I understand it actually has a mini-tank inside it, I might be wrong though) I didn't like Holy Grail .... can't really say what I didnt like about it, just did something to my tone where everything was so gray .... I don't know.

is the digiverb alot different than the digidelay? I find the digidelay just doesn't sound all that great doubling as a reverb, its too extreme for reverb, and turning it down to reverb delay it just loses its character. I was looking at the digiverb but didn't want it if its very similar to the digidelay

I tried the ehx holy grail........and didn't like it......sounds more like a spring reverb and that is not what i'm looking (i prefer rack reverbs remember???).......Yesterday i scored a boss RV 3 for a good price........how are those?

I use my DigiDelay a lot. For reverb-type sounds, I keep it on mode 4 (tape delay) and tweak the knobs from there. The DigiVerb sounds digital, but I prefer it that way. I can get pretty dramatic with my delay settings, but I always try to keep my reverbs really subtle. I actually prefer digital effects for modulation and ambience effects, so I am satisfied with those 2 units.

The RV-3 is a really popular one. It gives the ability to mix and tweak different reverb and delay sounds, which most people like to do anyways. The reasons I avoided that pedal were that I preferred the novelty of having the older RV-2, although the RV-2 is much noisier than the RV-3; and I usually like to split up reverb and delay in my signal chain. I feel that chorus sounds best when placed between delay and reverb. But the RV-3 was produced when Boss took a step and really refined their digital effects; that's why the RV-3 was such a hit, along with the DD-3 as opposed the the older and seemingly identical DD-2.

Sometimes you want a different thing, like a multi-effects, or possibly you could use your delay pedal to simulate a reverb. I am a multieffects connoseur so I can't really say it's the solution, but with a delay pedal, sometimes a delay of 100ns to 250ns can sound like a reverb. Play around with delay and see what you can do :D

I always use pedals in front of an amp, but on amps with an FX loop, I'll put a Holy Grail or Alesis Nanoverb in the loop, sitting on top of the amp.

Lately, I've just been using amps that have tube/spring reverb, like the Matchless and Goldtone.
