reverb not working on Hot Rod Deville

I got a hot rod deville in a trade knowing it has broken reverb, I was wondering if there was a way I could fix this cause the shop I take my amps into charges an arm and a leg for things. Is it just a tube or ?? I'm not very good with technical stuff so any help would be appreciated

Re: reverb not working on Hot Rod Deville

Does anyone think changing tubes will help ? I unplugged and replugged in the reverb tank a few times so maybe that helped.. but my guitar is currently not here so I can't try it out just yet but I'm hoping that fixed it..otherwise I'm open to reverb pedal suggestions... I also have another amp head from the 60s that has no verb stock on it

have a look inside the reverb tank. ill bet london to a brick that one of the tiny wires leading to either end of the springs is busted.

Re: reverb not working on Hot Rod Deville

ok I'll have to take it out and look... how would I fix that though, or is it a leave it to an amp tech kind of thing ? it would be good to know the problem though before I give it to the tech, the one at my shop is not the smartest TBH..

Also just gotta thank you Gibson175 for always helping !

Re: reverb not working on Hot Rod Deville

If its a bad tank then that's an easy amp repair. Just buy a new one (upgrade!) then take the old one out and screw the new one in, it should just be connected with red and white RCA cables. Those stock fender reverbs are pretty notorious for cramping out, my buddy got a tank for a blues jr and think it only cost like 30 bucks and I installed it for him.

This is all based on the assumption that a reverb tank on a larger hot rod is the same configuration as a blues jr, sorry if it's not.

I'm goanna be honest I have a few amps without 'verb and I think I might just get a reverb pedal instead of fixing the Deville tank or taking it to the shop. Let's turn this into a What's a good spring reverb pedal with all the nuances of real spring thread haha!

Re: reverb not working on Hot Rod Deville

if it turns out to be a broken wire...just solder it back up. Easiest repair there is!

Re: reverb not working on Hot Rod Deville

oh ok ! wicked I will probably repair it if that's the problem. I will tinker with it today
