Reverb problems with my Marshall JCM 600

rocknroll

So I have the JCM 600 2x12 combo with an Accutronics reverb unit (2 springs). Lately the reverb was kinda moody, sometimes it was working sometimes not. Then I read some reviews of this particular amp and people were also complaining about the reverb and some suggested to buy a new RCA cable, which connects the reverb unit and the amp. I did that and now there is no reverb, but turning the reverb knob does change the sound. I checked the springs and they look OK. Does anybody have a solution? Thanks a lot!

My problem was w/a Marshall DSL 100 reverb. Sometimes worked, sometimes didn't. Eventually it just stopped. I just replaced the reverb tank. I think the whole job cost under $40. It would cost that much to have a tech look at it probably. Anyway, look at the tank, you'll see what looks like a serial number. It's actually the model. Go to the Accutronic web site to get the actual model then head for the "Antique Electronic Supply" web site. Find your reverb. I think mine came to $36. including shipping. Just screw it in, connect the rca's-done. btw...I took a tank out of my JCM-600 and used it in my DSL till the new one came in. It wasn't exactly the same unit but it worked fine.

Did you connect the proper RCA cable to the correct jack on the reverb tank? Are you using a patch cable in the effects loop for more gain? If so, that reduces the effectiveness of the reverb by a large amount.

i've got exactly the same problem with my DSL401.. the sound changing when you turn the knob is a good sign though - that's the response as when you have a working tank unplugged. the amp itself is ok!

might order a tank now actually, i miss the lush sound :D
