Reverend guitars?

Heyo, Duncanites!
Recently, I've sort of fallen in love with Reverend guitars. As the only store that seels Reverends in Sweden is in Gothenburg and I live in Stockholm, I haven't had a chance to try them out yet.
Anyone with some experience with their guitars? The models I'm the most interested in are the Club King 290 (with the Bigsby) and Volcano.

I've started to plan ahead for my next guitar (which should be at least half a year away), but I, much like most of you, love dreaming about the next one. :P
So, in short. Reverend - yay or nay?

Re: Reverend guitars?

I like the Ron Asheton model. the only thing I don't care for is its switch location.

Re: Reverend guitars?

Reverend guitars are amazing and then some for the price and unlike most other guitars out there an d unlike ANYTHING in their price range they come out of the box ready to play...great fit and finish and good factory frets, nuts, set ups, etc...

Reverend are one of the few guitars I'd buy mail order w/o playing or sight unseen in a new situation.

Re: Reverend guitars?

They're nicely made imports. Unfortunately, the prices have gone up quite a bit since they first started importing them. They used to be absolutely screaming deals. Now they are just OK deals. Still worth getting, but no longer complete steals like they used to be. a Volcano is definitely on my short list of desired guitars. one of the older one, with the canted headstock instead of the "V" headstock.

Re: Reverend guitars?

Coolio, cheers for the feedback!
Swedish prices look good, about the same as Hagström, Classic series Fender and 50s/60s/70s Tribute Gibson.
Loads of P90 models, which is awesome! And they look amazing!
The bass contour looks nifty too!
Oh, and "import" guitars aren't an issue for me, seeing as american guitars are imports too. :P

Re: Reverend guitars?

Owned a circa 2002 lava swirl rocco for 10 years. Liked it a lot, but it was never my go to axe and, while it's unique sound was cool, I could never quit gel with it. Plus it's flat metal slab design was too uncomfortable for me. I like contours.

It's two humbuckers were actually pretty hot and could pull off some great rock leads, and they were well matched to the hollow boidy design. And it was well made for the price. I also got back more than I paid for it.

I'm not familar with the current models and how they compare to the older, US made models, but you may want to consider older models as well.

Finding older Reverends in Sweden will be a hard task, as they've not been sold here for long afaik. Buying used from USA is both risky and expensive.

Re: Reverend guitars?

They're all imports now? I was not aware of this.

Regardless, I love the Sensei and Manta Ray models. I've yet to find one in person, but they always sound great. They really won me over when I saw their GM's band, The Polka Floyd. Both guitar and bass were Reverend, and they sounded fantastic.

Maybe Greg in the link can help you out. I sold him my Rocco, and he frequently buys and sells US made reverends. He sends the Reverend guitars he buys back to Reverend for them to set up. He actually sent mine to the same guy who set mine up and signed my headstock back in 2002; he still works there. How cool is that? Ten years later and the guitar crosses his bench again.

Re: Reverend guitars?

After seeing Gearmandude's video of the firebird-ish model with 3 P90's, the guitars started piquing my interest.

Re: Reverend guitars?

I have an opportunity to trade my PRS SE SC for a Reverend Sensei 290. The seller wants the SE plus $200.00. Is this a fair deal?
