Reverse polarity pickup swap. Can it be done?

Hi, I got a Fender Showmaster that has this pickup in the bridge:
1 Seymour Duncan® SH-1N RP ‘59 Reverse Polarity Humbucking Pickup
I`d like to swap it for a Custom Custom like I use in my other guitars. Is it possible to just wire the CC differently, or would I have to special order? Thanks in advance. Pete

Just flip the magnet in the Custom Custom and all will be well.

Thanks! Is there a page that could show me how to do this, or could you help bail my dumb ass out, LOL!

Somebody's got a link, probably you could Google "magnet swapping" and get it.

But the down and dirty explanation is to loosen the four little bobbin mount screws on the bottom of the pickup, push the magnet out gently and carefully and carefully, then flip it over so the side that was facing the screws is now facing the slugs, shove it back in and tighten the bobbin mount screws back down. The end...

Thanks again! I can handle that, just I`ve never done it before. Now it`s time to order a CC. I appreciate your patience.

You could probably order it reverse polarity from the Custom Shop, though it might cost more. Or you could just reverse the leads too (assuming 4-conductor), make the black lead ground and the green lead hot...

Re: Reverse polarity pickup swap. Can it be done?

Thanks JHN, that page was very helpful. After doing more research on my Showmaster FMT HH, it appears that the Fender site doesn`t have the correct info on their own guitars, LOL! I read the page quickly at 1st, and saw where it said the bridge pickup was reverse polarity. I didn`t notice the N at the end of the pickup type that would mean neck. Even Musicians Friend had the pickups listed correctly. All of their import Showmasters that use these pickups are listed backwards on fender.com. It says they have a Pearly Gates plus in the neck, and a reverse polarity SH1 in the bridge. Too funny! Glad I double and triple checked before I started reversing magnets. But I appreciate the help as I`ve learned something new.
