I bought a used bridge duncan ibanez pup and i wanted to give a low down on it
first off let me say i was VERY impressed!
it is a duncan distortion tremspaced(17.2K)
but has one row hex poles and a smaller ceramic magnet
this pup really took me by suprise!
it has a very tight response and harmonics are to die for(more than the stock DD! :saeek: )
it has more bottom and just sounds less boxy/grainy overall
split sounds great and the clean tone is pretty good for a hot pup
what i really like about it is that it is really just a DD with a smaller ceramic or a JB with a ceramic and the hex poles really give the pup more definition then they have stock
in a round about way it is kind of like having unbalanced coil(dual resonance)
the hesx pole coil is tighter and more focused than the screw side, so even though it is wound with two matched coils they see the strings differently tonally.
it has some qualities that i really liked about the TZ in my strat
which is mega hamonics, super PUNCH to the rythm tones, super fat toned leads, unbelievable burn to the notes, and clarity to die for
to show you how much this pup impressed me, you will be seeing my LP's and my one strat loaded with this pup in my sig after i get 3 more! :saeek: GOODBYE EMG!
Ps, how in the heck do i get off the ibanez logo on it and keep just duncan there??? :laugh2:
