Review: Fender Showmaster HH wow!

I tried the Fender Showmaster HH today. All I can say is wow! I'm impressed! :D

First off, this is the first time I've ever liked the way a '59 sounds. Wow! The neck cleans were amazing, like the Jazz but less of a scooped sound, and plenty warm enough.

Second, the PG bridge can do metal! I was playing it through a Marshall amp (one of those little gold-faced DFX models with the distortion on) and I got some very nice tight bass and just the right amount of highs! This was the first time I had heard a PG, and I'm sold!

As for the guitar, the neck was glued in / set in, with a good body blend for reaching the high notes. The fretboard was ok (rosewood has always, to me, just been "ok"), but the jumbo frets were a very nice touch. The feel was excellent.

I was in the store looking for a mahogany body set/glued neck guitar as a good candidate to replace my ESP, and instead I found a basswood/maple/rosewood guitar that has splits (5-way splitting) and everything I need already. The ONLY thing I don't like is the tremolo (I'd prefer to have one with and one without in my inventory), but it's a nice trem that comes floating. The setup and action that the guitar already had was superb!

As for trem issues, I can deal with it having a trem, unless I go for a hard-tail. However, it comes with locking tuners. All I would have to do with this guitar is Earvana nut and Graphtech saddles and I'd be done :D

I think I've found my next GAS :D

I've never gotten the opportunity to play one but the looks are pretty much to die for.... :32:

Re: Review: Fender Showmaster HH wow!

I played one of these a couple months ago but didn't spend much time with it. I liked it, don't get me wrong, but I have a strat guitar and I was looking for LP's at the time. I still would like to spend more time with one, however I can't afford the GAS. :smack:

Re: Review: Fender Showmaster HH wow!

I have one of the limited edition ones with the Scorpion Inlay and it's amazing, and the neck is unheard of for playability (and so all my friends say as well). But everytime I've picked up one of these other ones in a store (about three in total), the paint was painfully sticky. Like just trying to slide a note was almost impossible without some sort of pain and I don't mean because of the frets (which I believe were fine).

Idk what it was but none of them felt really good to me yet the scorpion one is a perfect fit, and the neck glides.

I plated before also. Those pups work great in that guitar. Also got some rocking sounds from a Marshall amp!!!!

Until yesterday, MF had the flame ash versions for $305.99 as "blems."

Kind of looks like cedar fencing.

Correction... the bridge isn't a PG, it's a PG+. My bad....
It's just the pole spacing that's different from the standard PG. The '59 is also reverse-polarity in all these Cor-Tek Fenders for some reason.

I have the same set in one of the Cor-Tek Toronados that were recently discontinued. They seem OK.

Wrong. It's Alnico V magnet version of the Pearly Gates. See this link.

Funny...I read a completely different explanation of it elsewhere. The information in the link is obviously outdated (the Lone Star is long gone), and I wonder if FMIC has changed their contract specs on it since then.

And I read online that aliens exist and that the mothership is coming back soon. So what? The manufacturer's website should be the #1 trusted source of authority on what their product is (regardless of if Fender liked the PG+ and decided to put it into even more of their guitars than just the Lone Star Strat).

See, this is why the thread creator should have the ability to delete people's responses within the thread they created: a lot of "hijacking" and other nonsense could be prevented.
