Revisiting the Custom

I have not had a Custom in a guitar for a while. Wow, I really like this pickup. It cleans up nicely and gets very aggressive with some good distortion.

I was afraid that I would not like the higher power, since I have become quite used to my Seth Lover, which I really like in my Les Paul. It does have a little bit of that higher output compression, especially on the lower notes, but the trade off of open-ness and bold, edgy output is well worth it with this pickup.

I highly recommend the Custom to anyone that likes to go from quality clean to quality dirt with the same pickup :saeek:

Re: Revisiting the Custom

For the past six months, the Custom in the bridge of my Fake LP has been my do-everything pickup. I bought this guitar to be a high-gain monster and expected to keep using my Tele for janglier, lighter stuff. But what I'm finding is that the pair of Duncan's I've put in this LP (DDn+DC) are much more versatile than I ever expected and even do the things that I always relied on my Tele to do, in some cases better than the stock Fender pups. My Tele has done nothing but collect dust hanging on the wall since I installed the Custom.
