Reviving a Stratocaster

hi all.

new to SD forums
so please do guide me along :D

i have a 5years old squier california strat,
maple neck, alder body.

ill like to revive it.

my playing will be like Richie Sambora (reasons i buy the strat)
i use the whammy pretty much alot n with the squier ones tuning has been an issue haha!

would like to make it into a floyd rose type (without pullups or routing of wood)
and maybe throw in new pickups for it.

currently ive upgraded to a graphite nut and locking tuners.

what are your views on it.
what pickups or what floyd rose licensed bridge will be best for the upgrade...

i also know that most of the people wil say its pretty redundant to upgrade as price wont be worthy

Re: Reviving a Stratocaster

If you dont intend to upgrade to a locking nut, there is absolutely no reason to upgrade to floyd rose either. Floyd Rose would require massive routing. If you like your guitar, there is no reason to destroy it by doing this mod. I'd suggest saving some money and buying one of those MIM Floyd Rose fenders or even the blacktops.

Re: Reviving a Stratocaster

I agree with getting a new guitar if you want the FR trem system. You cannot simply swap the trem systems without significantly altering the body.

Re: Reviving a Stratocaster

Its not worth it. As said above. And the Squire California is a very low end Squire. If I am not wrong, even the Affinity is better. May be a pickup swap at the most. The Floyd would require some routing.

The Squire California is a diff guitar from the FENDER California.
