If it's okay I'll put this here too. It's a test clip of my new stock RG7321. I'm gonna mod this mofo real bad so this is kind of the 'before' clip. I'll make an 'after' clip too just for comparison. When I'm done with the mods I'll put the 'after' clip to this same thread. Mods to come in a month or two I guess.

Oh yeah. That chug, extended scales and 7 string arpeggios and sweeps make a 6 string feel super limiting.

Re: RG7321 Test (same as in my NGD thread)

Sounds good. I tried playing a RG 7 string (don't remember which model) several times years and years ago, but I never really cared for the feel of them. Besides, i have enough trouble with only 6 strings.

Pickups are pure **** though. Have to change them asap. This axe is still cool as hell :D (cool as hell... lol)

Shweeeeet.

Man, I need to get me a 7! They're so fun.

You wont regret it :)

U know man, I feel like I'm never gonna buy a six again. I don't mean that in terms of lower tuning or more chug. The feel is just so good.

I don't own anymore 6 string electrics. 7 strings all the way for me.
If you're looking at aftermarket pickups and don't want to deal with routing the pickup cavities to put in actives, Dimarzio is pretty much the way to go for 7 string pickups.
They have many models that were made specifically to go with Basswood 7 string guitars

I used to have an RG7620 and my technique improved with that guitar. The wider neck really worked for my hands; there was more to hold onto appropriately for me. I think another 7 string down the road will be great. Who cares what others think of a guy bringing a seven string up for a blues jam.

Yeah, I feel the same way but one good strat in da house is a must for me :D I've been thinking about Crunch Lab/Liquifire combo but I'm pretty sure I'm going to order some BKPs. Maybe Aftermaths.

Why won't Sterling by MM make a JP7? :censored: I know that they just might be re-branded OLPs but I don't really care about that. The neck in JP model is just so amazing. Well, have to save for a real one I guess.... :lmao:

This is very true, I'm already starting to feel improvement in my playing and technique. I'm so taking my 7 to the next blues gig. I think breaking this kind of stereotypes is cool. Does anyone know finnish metal band Wintersun? The guitarist Jari Mäenpää uses stock Tokai tele in their gigs. Here's a clip:

I put a JB/Jazz combo in my RG7621. They're a great match for each other, and the JB is warm and thick in the midrange -- not scooped and rumbly like some players might prefer in a seven-string -- but it's perfect for me. No icepicks to be had in any switch position. I had to grind down the corners of the feet on the mounting legs, but other than that, they were a great fit.

Nice. I hate scooped and rumbly. Full of mids and clarity is my thing :D Although, that combination can sometimes be quite hard to find.
