Richie has a new Explorer

I love everything about it HH (I would swap the EMGs for Black Winterrs), Flyod (I would eventually swap out for a Sophia) but the pickguard is a nonstarter for me. I think it is horrific.

I like the color, and I like the contrast of the color and the pickguard. I think I might like it better if the white was paint, though.

I like the pickguard but the execution is kind of lacking. Contour it better on the bass side horn to match the contour of the wood better. And maybe don't end it a very sharp point towards the bridge.

Yeah exactly. They're not but I don't see why they burden themselves trying to :lmao: You want a traditional instrument (probably 90% of guitar players on the planet) & you'll get a Gibson or a Fender...maybe a PRS..

They should maybe just accept that...and stop w/the "new designs" :laugh2:

Nothing beats the classic "Gibson never innovates / Gibson should stick to that works" dichotomy.

For what it's worth, I think Gibson has some cool newer designs out there, but you never hear about em because people only like talking about the bad ones.

I think the conversion to richlite was a necessity, as finding suitable dark rosewood and ebony was going to make them miss their price points. When they tried to change the wood formula for LP bodies in their Smartwood series, they flopped. Although I thought they were cool, and if I buy an LP, that's what I am getting.
