Richie Sambora - Slippery When Wet

Re: Richie Sambora - Slippery When Wet

Those white PAF Pro's in the Fender Strat had standard slugs and slotted pole screws instead of the usual allen screws. That's the difference. You can find them on eBay and Reverb occasionally.
Tonewise, a JB with a Tubescreamer gets awfully close to those tones.....don't forget a Whammy pedal, a wah, a talkbox, a tremolo, and a cranked Marshall.

Re: Richie Sambora - Slippery When Wet

For a lot of Slippery When Wet he also used a harmonizer to add an octave up and an octave down to thicken his tone, such as you give love a bad name .

Re: Richie Sambora - Slippery When Wet

The Fender RS signature Stratocaster had a DP100 Super Distortion humbucker in the bridge position. Sambora has been known to use a Talkbox. This can add that vowel shaping effect - especially when layering up guitar parts.

No it did not. I own one. It had a PAF PRO variant...I forget the actual model but dimarzio has different numbers for OEM pickups at the time. I believe it was labeled as an H something...I'll have to dig it out, it's in a drawer somewhere as I replaced with a JB.

Re: Richie Sambora - Slippery When Wet

^^^^now that right there sounds like a JB.

Right, 'cause that's the 7800 Fahrenheit tour. I remember that custom Les Paul, a custom Explorer, a Hamer standard and some sort of triple bucker black guitar (that I thought was a les Paul... hey, I was 11, gimme a break. lolz) from the Chicago show.
