I have been GASing for a Ric lately, and I love this but at almost 5 grand it is way out of my comfort level for an axe. Still, I freaking love this guitar. Great bridge and high-output toasters.

Same here. I was thinking if the black came with a trem I would have to dust off the credit card. That would push the guitar over the edge for me. It is a good-sounding guitar it just frustrates me these gear demos rarely feature the guitars in a higher-gain setting. Not necessarily thrash or death metal but give me a little more meat.

Its not, its a protective Poly coat that all Rics have when new, it mellows away quickly

It's a Poly coat that is shiny in the store, but disappears after playing
