Re: Riff-Off 4.1: Candy-Colored Clown

I really like this progression. It manages to weave a thread of optimism into a tapestry that is overhelmingly foreboding ... very well done.

I agree with those who have suggested that it stretches the boundaries of riffdom, but I grant a great deal of lattitude there.

The only slight downside for me is that I believe there were fills on a second guitar track. I am often mistaken, but that is my impression.

I really enjoyed the composition and the playing and hope to hear more from you, Candy!

Re: Riff-Off 4.1: Candy-Colored Clown

Nice piece of music, even if it is barely a riff.

Definately sounds like a few tracks overlapping in places which is cheating somewhat, but the core mood is great.
A good deal of time and effort has been spent here.

Re: Riff-Off 4.1: Candy-Colored Clown

Not sure what to do with this one, here's why:

- if it's multiple guitars doing different things, it's more of a tune, and I can't vote for a tune.

- if this is two guitars playing the same thing and the layering effect I'm hearing is delay, then it's an awesome riff!

Having listened again - I'm sorry, but I can't vote on this one. while I dig it, it's got too many guitars doing different things at the same time. I like it, but it's the equivalent of someone using a chair in a basketball game to make a killer slam dunk, ya know?

I did not think it was so hard to pick out there's one guitar playing chords and one guitar playing single notes

Re: Riff-Off 4.1: Candy-Colored Clown

Depending on the tuning and chords used, some of those licks could be done on one guitar using one or two fingers while the rest held the chord, but the highest-pitched lick would be an amazing stretch worthy of Alan Holdsworth.

I'd hafta see a video of it, though.

I thought we weren't supposed to blow our cover until the official reveal thread?

Yeah, what he said ^^

I blabbed early after getting the boot in R1 of the last Tourney and Pinky asked me to delete the thread and wait for the Big Coming-Out Thread  :(
