Rig story!

That's an 88 model 4. My first ever guitar. I absolutely love this baby. Plays fantastic, strung with 11s to Eb right now. The pickup is a Duncan Distortion.
The pots are volume and tone. The switches are a three way on/off/on straight to output. The one up from this one is a split. The others do nothing: I hate useless holes ;)
She'll hopefully get a neck single coil sometime soon and assorted electronics.

That's a model 1a, with a model 4's neck. Fantastic guitar and FINALLY finished after having had it in various versions for two years :D Just got a fret dress and I gave her a new nut (graphite) and saddles (graphite as well). Someone on here may recognize the flame ;) Again Travis, thanks a lot for it!
Pickups are a FullShred I modified with an A8 magnet, an Alnico 2 single coil and a CoolRails. I'll swap the neck and middle though I believe. Electronics are a master volume and the neck pickup's volume, the wee toggle is a split for both bridge and neck pickups, so I have two extra parrallel humbucker options as well as two extra virtual single coils.
There's a nice flame to the neck as well :D
I'm not sure what to do about the truss rod cover though as this neck obviously should have a lock behind the nut. So far I don't mind that much though so ah well.

And I play these babies through these:

The big grey pedal is a Carl Martin Plexitone prototype :D Thanks Niels! The SD1 has been modded by yours truly to sound nothing like a standard SD1. The rest of the pedals are fairly standard...

And there's also my Kramer Stagemaster which is back in Amsterdam and I miss her dearly:

In her current state she's got a volume with split and a Duncan Custom.
Do excuse the poor pics, I suck at this ;)

Re: Rig story!

That's some awesome gear right there.....love that color blue on the model 4. How do you like the full shred with the a8 magnet--does it change the eq curve that much?

Re: Rig story!

Nah... just a wee bit brighter and slightly hotter... not worth it I say, I'll swap back to an A5 whenever I swap the neck and middle pickups.

Re: Rig story!

Wow dude, that A4 has major Criss Oliva vibe about it. Love to see Charvels and Laney - old school.

Re: Rig story!

Sweet Charvels, man. I'd love to get one of those cheaper strat-guard models and re-neck it with a painted strathead for that holdsworth look...

Re: Rig story!

Pierre, every laney bro has to no the name, one of the most underrated players ever. RIP.
He played charvels through AOR. His number one was a blue bodied Charvel "gargoil"
last video he made was with it. Here.

Would love to see you AOR. Time for it to rock again.

If you don't know what to do with your soon to be spare A8 I can find it a home pretty easily. Thinking of changing mags in the Gibby again. That's all I can afford right now as changes. :dot:

Re: Rig story!

She does! I absolutely LOVE her. The sounds I can get out of her are all stunning. She's a mean Blues machine too ;)

And yes I'm pretty happy about my gear. I still want a compressor, another OD (completely different flavor than the other stuff I have), a wee buffer to plug in right at the start and a heavy metal distortion. After that I'll be sorted I believe.

Re: Rig story!

Yep those were amazing guitars... all 3 of mine I got second hand without having played them, and all three of mine are resonant, lively and have a beautiful accoustic tone. Absolutely stunning.

Re: Rig story!

Charvels are wicked playing guitars alright, just something about their necks.

Is that a Drop Sonic in your Kramer.... what are your thoughts on that pup, likes/dislikes?

Re: Rig story!

Nah it was a Megadrive. GREAT pickup! I kinda miss it. It had a real nice, polyvalent tone.
