Ripped my metal Telecaster apart again

I use my Tele mostly for hard rock and metal. I have a SD Hotrails in the bridge, the lipstick in the neck not my favorite choice for hard rock. I had a humbucker sitting around that was in the bridge of my 80 Ibanez Iceman so I put it to work. I always loved the sound of this pickup but swapped it out with a Dimebucker when I was playing heavier music. The pickup reads just over 7 on the ohm meter, I figured why the hell not give it a spin.

Re: Ripped my metal Telecaster apart again

I haven't done the full on metal thing yet. I plugged it into the Fender Excelsior and ended up playing longer than I have for a while. It sounds great for blues, it seems a bit hot for jazz but I am still dialing it in. I am home alone all day Monday so that is when I will give it the full on shred test. So far sonically and aesthetically I like it. It is much warmer than the hot rails with more midrange. Not that I don't love the rails it is just a different vibe. Together they sound great.

I had the hotrail in the bridge of my Tele paired with a Firebird minihum. I had a love/hate relationship with the Hotrail, sometimes I loved it but most times I thought it was too bassy and it didn't sound so good clean, so about a year ago my friend started making his own pickups. I told him I needed a new pickup for my Tele & he asked ne what I didn't like about it. So I told him and he made me essentially a Jsrry Donahue bridge that really works well in the bridge. Very happy now!

Now that looks sexy !

Would love to hear the middle pos sound !

I got to rock out with it a bit today. The middle position is the sweet spot right now, a nice balance of the two pickups. I almost have this guitar where I want it. I am thinking a Babicz bridge and locking tuners and I am all done.

I LOVE the mid-pos on a single coil [bridge] / full size humbucker [neck] tone . . . best of both worlds, all at the same time !

Need so see images of the final product please !
