Ripping 490s out of SG

I really tried to like these pickups but I just can't take it. They just sound trashy and shrill to me. I've got a Duncan Custom in my LP Custom and I want something that has about that output or more in the bridge of my SG. The issue is that the SG is a much brighter guitar than the LP and I'm afraid the Custom has too much top end. A JB is right out because it had to much on top for even my LP. Maybe I should try a Distortion? I would like the neck pickup to keep up with the bridge in output but I need it to be cleaner. I need a thick, fat bridge and a sparkly neck. I hope this change doesn't take months of swapping to figure out.

Any help or advice is greatly appreciated.

I my mind the CC is one of Duncans best pickups. I would say as of right now it is very underrated. The CC would work GREAT and The Jazz would be the ticket in the neck. I paly the same setup and LOVE it. They also sound GREAT when used togeather.

I had a DD in the bridge of my SG for years. Very nice bridge pickup. Get a Jazz for the neck and you have the clarity you seek. Thats also Randy Rhodes' setup in his white Jackson V.
