Hey guy,

Im starting with my project. Blackmore used single coil quarter pounders (positions: neck and bridge, without middle) and later humbeckers: Gold Lace Sensor pickups. I want to buy Seymour Duncans ... but do you know guys what exactly ... was it SSL-7 quarter-pound™ staggered or SSL-4 quarter-pound™ flat or some other ?

Re: Ritchie Blackmore project.

It would be mostly Staggered... IMO ... The moment I seen Ritchie Blackmore has the heading of this thread I clicked on it BLINDLY :)
Huge Ritchie Blackmore fan... he was my first guitar hero..

Re: Ritchie Blackmore project.

For that classic Deep Purple/Rainbow sound the Quarter pounder sounds like the one. Staggered or non staggered I'm not so sure about, in terms of the sound it probably won't make that much difference.

Re: Ritchie Blackmore project.

I'm able to get Blackmore's early Deep Purple tone with my Malmstten strat, which has Dimarzio HS-3's and YJM pickups.... since in the day he used the stock low output single coils found in Fender guitars in the 70's

I don't think Blackmore used SD quarter pounders until the rainbow days and later...

Blackmore started using the Quater pounds only in the deep purple MK2 union era.or late Rainbow just before the deep purple mk2 Union. Early deep purple it would be stock pickups and later some HIGH OUT PUT Scheter pickups that were later discontiued...thats when he started using the Quater pounds.
For real early deep purple ( first 2-3 albums) an es355 with eth lovers or 59 would work well IMO.

Re: Ritchie Blackmore project.

My base will be Fender 72 resisse made in japan, olympic white and black stuff like knobs etc. I want it to be almsot same to Blackmore Signature Model. But Im still not sure about pu's ... was it ssl4 or ssl7 heh

Thanks for replys ;)

Re: Ritchie Blackmore project.

I've read the Lace Sensor "silver" gets VERY close to the Blackmore tone, more so than the "gold".
