Brisk, I can't wait until you can crank the amp; I was very impressed with it (for being a combo). I think that it's better than the VHT Pitbull combo, that's fer sure.

If it has a speaker out, try it with a Rivera 4x12.

Oh yeah, welcome to the Dark Side!!

Reminds me of school of rock... "No you're not hardcore, unless you live hardcore... and the legend of the rent was way hardcore!"

Ben, I am taking it to the next practice. I've been using Traynor and it actually worked pretty well. I played Chubby only for few hours but but I have really really bad feeling that it's gonna sound bad azz cranked.

Thanks for welcoming me to the dark side. Muhahahahahahah!

Re: Rivera Chubster arrived in one piece

Def need to crank a Rivera to get rid of that somewhat dark, muddy tone when set for higher gain. Back off the pre-amp gain and let those EL34s work some magic and then the amp really sparkles.

The amp you were playing had old tubes. Riveras, as rule, do not have the sound you are describing.

Hey Ben.. it was a new Fandango I tried recently...2004 model. Tubes couldnt have been that old, I don't think.

But thats been my experience with the Clubsters and R/M series too old or newer. Not as much "high end sparkle" or definition as say a Marshall. Again though, thats at lower volumes and/or with the pre-amp crankin.

Nice amp, how much was it?

I got it for $900 shipped from an orginal owner. New Chubby is around $1300 -1400. He did custom order for tolex/grill and boost level adjust knobs. I do not know how much extra he paid.
