I had a Venus 3 that ate power tubes very quickly. One power tube would go dim and the other one looked like it was on fire. Rivera kept telling me it was a tube problem. Obviously, it was a problem with the amp and they weren't willing to help. I'll never have another one.

sounds like a toasted screen resistor. They can burn out on any amp because they sit on top of the power tubes. Ive had it happen to two of my fenders...its no big deal. Easy and cheap to fix. I still like fender amps.

I'm pretty picky about 6V6 amps, but when I tried a Venus 3 combo I was blown away.
For some reason, I've never been a fan of Rivera amps, but the Venus series is pretty damn cool.

i wanted to love the venus i auditioned, but it just didnt do it for me ... i usually like rivera stuff especially the quiana but also to the pubster, clubster, chubster ... the quiana had fender-y cleans (it loved my strat) and marshally dirt (it loved my PRS) ... but the venus just couldnt give me what i was hoping for ... was just kinda ok for cleans and dirt ... nothing made me go 'whoa'

T4D which Venus? The 3 (2x6v6) and the 5 (2x6l6) are nice amps but the 6 (4x6v6) is the killer, got a lot more going for it. I wouldn't mind a 3 but my Tweaker does all I need in that area, I have no use for the 5 but I got some lust going for the 6.
Did look into the tube issue and they had a stretch where they were getting consistently bad 6v6's that were blowing after about 8-10hrs of use.

Mine would kill a set of power tubes in 30 minutes. It didn't matter what brand they were. Since Rivera wasn't willing to help, I traded the amp and let it be someone else's problem.
