Rock song from Quibby.

Re: Rock song from Quibby.

I'm a bit paranoid, one response. Tell me it's crap, tell me it's good, just tell me something.

Re: Rock song from Quibby.

Re: Rock song from Quibby.

Maybe a little AC/DC influence? The little stab chords in the intro sound flat to me, possibly your clamping down too hard with your chords and they're not ringing out in tune or perhaps the guitar was a bit out?

Anyhow I dig what you're doing.

Re: Rock song from Quibby.

I've only been playing for about two years, part time, not every day. I'm still learning my keys, whats flat and whats sharp, so on. It's not the best thing I've ever heard but I dont think it is total rubbish either. I don't have any guitar player friends or family so I have had to learn it all on my own, just trying to work out what works and what doesn't. Live in Melbourne, thats as far as I go, don't want any stalkers. Any friends I'll tell you more.

And the intro, to me, is more of a Lindsay Buckingham thing, he always did that double finger pick thing. Never much cared for AD/DC - can't stand SG's, just personal pref.

Considering how long you've been playing, I think your doing really well. I like what your doing with your structures. Recording your ideas and being able to be introspective with them is a great way to learn and capture ideas.

Refering to your song writing thread.
Do you know much about song construction? Eg: a 3 1/2 minute style pop song ? A twelve bar blues based song?
If you don't it may be a plus for you as you then aren't working with any constraints in your creative process. You obviously have a command of structure, be it your own type, it's there and it works.

I like it.

Re: Rock song from Quibby.

Reminds me of the Divinyls, i'm kinda waiting for Chrissie Amphlett's voice to come in (I love the Divinyls).

I like it. I don't hear it as being 'empty'. So much stuff now is too cluttered, this has some space and room to breath. Well done !

buy generic proscar Hair growth in great measure depends on androgens.
buy finpecia uk is a substance which selectively prevents effects of 5 alpha-reductase, the enzyme responsible for activity of certain androgens (male hormones). Hair follicles and sebaceous glands are especially sensitive to androgens: their growth is stimulated at the cellular level and sebaceous glands produce fat.

I am aware of song structure, having been around bands for 20 years in various capacities, however the "3 minute pop song" while it does work, is so overdone and cliche that I really try to avoid it. The thing I love about Jimmy Page is he rarely wrote Verse, chorus, verse, pre chorus, chorus. I am in no way comparing myself to Page but I like where he came from. Music is not just 3 minute radio songs. He believed in the Orchestra approach, and so do I, where as you play a part, once it has made it's point, play the next part. If it needs repeating, then repeat it. If it needs to go somewhere else, then go there. A song should be a story, take you to new places. If you need to kill off the Hero (a riff), then kill it to get to the next dramatic story point. I am nowhere near that stage yet, but that is what I am going for.

As a side note, for every 30 songs I write, maybe 2 will be good, another 3 will be acceptable, and the rest was just practice, much the same as a professional swimmer might train ten hours for a 3 minute race. That training is good exercise leading up to the race. It's all usefull somehow, even if you throw it away at the end of the day., I still have a long way to go, a LONG way.

Re: Rock song from Quibby.

Not completely sure what that meant, but I'm open for a party of loud, raucus drunk obnoxious Australians on my front lawn. Geez, my neibours do it every night, crash my lawn, then when the Po-leese turn up, it's my house, they have all pissed off and I get in trouble. Ahh yeah, just you don't love being Australian. Never change a thing.:approve: Aussie, Ausie Ausie .....

Re: Rock song from Quibby.

Man, I really, really like this. It's got an interesting blend of classic rock and alternative. I like the chord structures/progression and the interplay of the rhythm and lead parts, totally up my alley. If this song had a good singer and you wrote an album of this stuff I would jump on it in a heartbeat.
