Roland / Boss expression pedal

Is anyone here using a Boss/Roland Ev-5 expression pedal? I was thinking of getting one for my vf1 fx processor for a few things - notably, the speed on the leslie simulator patch. Is it possible to use the ev-5 like a standard volume pedal in addition to it already being a cc/control/parameter pedal?

Honestly, I've never used it as to control other pedals . . . but from what I remember from the manual it can be used as a volume control too. It's not a bad little pedal, but it's pretty light weight and made out of plastic, so make sure that you treat it gently. It's probably the only boss pedal that I've had any concerns about breaking.
