Roland GP8 into Classic 30

Fooling around today i plugged my old beat up Roland GP8 rack unit in front of my Peavey Classic 30 combo and it sounds amazing!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm surprised i had never hooked those things up before tonight! I had to lower the master volume on the patches but man that is very cool stuff thru the 30's Clean channel!!!!

Does any one know if the GP8 was design to go into the front end of a regular guitar amp, or was it meant for being a preamp to be powered by a Power amp.. ?

My FC-100 controller is broken i think and i should buy a new Midi controller for it if this really works this well! What are good but cheap Midi controllers? The local store has a Berhinger for about $199 Canadian or something..

I love the Roland GP-8

Re: Roland GP8 into Classic 30

I think the GP-8 had analog overdrive, which is why it sounds so good in front of a regular amp. Later processors like the GP-100 used early digital COSM, which was designed to go directly into a PA (in reality, it didn't sound good at all, though the effects were very good).

The GP8 is great. Effects, overdrive, all sounded good. GP-16 and later, I just didn't like at all. I don't use it, but I still have an old GP8.
