Roland JC question (vol jump)

So's I've got a roland jc-50. Love the tone but bought it used and it does one of those volume jumps from zero to 100 with a tiny turn of the pot. Are they all like that or do ya think the pot is messed up, or was replaced with the wrong kind at some point? Considering just selling it because I'd have to just throw more money at it to get it fixed and it's kinda big for a 1 x 12 combo. Great 70s vibe tho, and prob the only clean sound I've ever liked. Considering cutting my losses and getting that small 2 x 8" version to replace it.

They get loud very quickly and seeing there is no master volume it can sometimes be hard to control, but that behavior does not sound at all normal. I can play my JC120 at bedroom levels when needed.

ok, I'll prob get it looked at. there is probably like a half inch where it's bedroom volume then it's into Madison Square Garden territory.

So I am guessing the chorus doesn't work quite the same as in the double speaker models...

It is the same circuit and sounds glorious just not stereo. The JC50 is an awesome amp. All of the sounds and features of the 120 in a neat package

Love to try it. However, the 'stereo' part of the JC120 is one of the things that sounds glorious to me.

That is part of the hassle with the JC 120. For my head I had to modify a cab for stereo. Even when I had the combo the sound guy would need to mic both speakers which most did begrudgingly then only mixed one speaker. The JC50 and JC60 are much better gigging amps IMO for this reason. Plus they are much more portable. For a solid state amp the JC120 is very big and very heavy.

Well that makes sense. It would be like using 1 microphone on a Leslie cab.

Can you put an eq in the effects loop?
choke it down with the volume control of the peadl?

All.my combos have the same issue
they came that way from the factory

Youtube guy Psionic Amps says its the audio taper pot
he thinks they should be linear taper

I don't know
