rosewood Fboard (rant)

so.. took the strings off to clean the damn thing and i noticed the thing has lots of little pores open (doesnt feel smooth) and it feels sticky also... gotta clean it first and then we'll see how the wood polish fares

and i need damn new frets too... the 1st, 2nd 3rd and 4th are pretty much worn down on the E A G and e strings
blah, i'm officially pissed off with epiphone and my guitar.. this thing has to go and it has to go soon!

also, how can i repair the fretboard markers myself? the 7th one and the lower 12th fret markers are pushed in on one side and i'd like to make it level again.. any way i can make this without damaging anything? and can i buy abalone inlays somewhere?

and how do i replace the nut myself

Re: rosewood Fboard (rant)

Rosewood is a porous wood. It will always have an open grain, but if your fingerboard does not feel smooth it could be dry. I would clean the fingerboard with a fingerboard cleaner (not guitar polish) to remove as much dirt as possible, then I would hit the frets with very fine steel wool (0000). Once this has been done wipe the fingerboard down with a dry cloth. Now take a cloth wet with lemon oil and wet the fingerboard down with it. Allow the oil to soak in for a minute or 2, DO NOT OVER SOAK THE FINGERBOARD AS THIS CAN CAUSE THE FRETS TO BECOME LOOSE! and then wipe off all the excess. A good trick before you start this is to place some tape over the pups to eliminate the steel wool particles from sticking to the magnets. That can cause some annoying static issues.
