hi i am 19 i am moving out of my step dads house in a couple of weeks into a group home so i can learn to be more independent the place i am moving to lets us use tools but not electric saws they probably won't let me use a router they let us use hand tools drills and a hand full of other things like sanders i have a design for a guitar i want to make its a semi hollow i was going to use a drill to hollow out the chamber for the semi hollow part and glean it up with a chisel and files and add a maple top and bottom is there some kind of tool other than chisels i can use instead of a router?

Re: router substitutes

Or a Dremel trio also works great for cavities the size and depth of the ones on a guitar, and is much faster than the standard multi-tool with a router base (which is excellent for inlays, but too weak for just about everything else).

Re: router substitutes

Chambering a body with a dremel would be impossible. Well not impossible but a huge hassle.

You could take out majority with a drill and then clean it up with a chisel.

Re: router substitutes

A sharpened spoon will work- but you have to be patient. Only work on it after lights out, or the screws will catch you and throw you in the hole.

Re: router substitutes

Yeah, but I don't want to give up what Red wants in trade for it. I ain't talking about fruit cups.

Re: router substitutes

to chamber it i was going to use a drill and chisel but for the pockets i didn't know what to use guess i'll use a dremel with plunge attachment and special router bits made for dremels the main worry was for the pickups and electronic cavity
