Routing in Charvel So Cal MIM?

Anyone has got one of these new MIM Charvel So Cal (the one with black pickguard)? I am wondering what the routing is under the pickguard since I would love to get one of those and change it into HSH or even a HSS.

Also, is the routing for the electronics enough to add one or 2 tone pots (like the original strat routing)?

I have already looked for this information but nothing from a current owner so if you have one your feed back would be very appreciated!!!

I know my old MIJ So Cal had the swimming pool routing. You can also get a concentric pot that can have tone and volume in one spot.

Cant you just use a fender body? NOTE: question/guess, not a recommendation - I dont actually know

I may not need a replacement body if this has routing I need, that is why I asked the question.

Well if you dont own yet... A charvel neck and a better-than-mim body could actually be cheaper. Since youre planning to redo the pups anyway...

Re: Routing in Charvel So Cal MIM?

If its a real Charvel neck, it ain't gonna fit. That said, I don't know what the neck heels on the new Mexican Charvels are, maybe they have changed.

Is this the one with a pick guard? Pretty sure it will be swimming pool or HSH. If not; just route it or have somebody route it. It doesn't need to be perfect unless your planning a see through pick guard.

Arent they pretty mucn rebadged fenders with charvel-like woods and styling?

A bit different neck specs and no gloss finish, I have been told the heel wil not match a regular strat body. Also it is the only strat I have found so far with 22 frets + maple freatboard + recessed floyd rose, that is what makes it interesting to me. There may be other brands but it gets quite difficult to get "unusual" brands here in my home city. And about the cost of pickups, I already have a bunch of them unused, a spare liberator 500k and a HSH pikcguard already ready for FR brdige after testing and experimenting a lot with my current guitar so I will not incur in any extra expenses to modify the guitar, unless of course someone having one of the new MIM could confir/discard the routing allows a middle pickup.

Thnaks for your comment CrookTele, if the MIJ was swiming pool then chances are the MIM could be too, hopefully a current MIM owner may let us know here.

Old ESP Mirage - available as maple superstrat, recessed real Floyd OFR, no guard.

Real, not LTD. Price = cheaper (lol) than new MIM charvel.

Note: other M-series stuff is different pickup configs etc. check it out, one of the various M models ought suit your fancy. And suuure beats a MIM.

Re: Routing in Charvel So Cal MIM?

Charvel Socals are HSH routed and the control area is the same as any strat so you can add typical 3 knobs and a blade switch if wanted. The heel width is 2 1/4" on CHarvels so a regular 2 3/16" strat neck will not work.
