RS Custom Guitar

Hi, I just put the money down an this bad boy after doing my homework on RS guitars. I emailed Everett and we spoke for hours and answered my calls within 30-45 minutes. I tracked down several people who have had a purchase to get their two cents in and they all had nothing but outstanding remarks from the build, the builders themselves, equipment that is in these guitars and to top it off, Everett will include a CD that he made while making your personal treasure. I have tried the new cheap ones and they aren't bad but something was bugging me and I needed it fix so I just checked around and came across RS Custom Guitars. I should have it hopefully in May an will post pics when it comes in.

Re: RS Custom Guitar

That's beautiful. Getting the guitar in May is rather appropriate.

Re: RS Custom Guitar

Nice to see people into the BM guitar - one of the most versatile guitars out there, but most people seem to write them it off as being just a 'Queen guitar'. Listen to the clip about the pickups: http://brian-mayniacs.com/rockmaster.html. I'd love one myself but don't have the coin. It's a drat they're expensive, but the production process is more involved because so much is non standard.

The standard BMG is pretty good for the $$. Most folk can't get over the tremolo system. I've seen people mod them to spec - Adeson pickups, original style trem/bridge, 220k pots, screwing pickups to the body etc. with pretty good results.

Have you checked out the Super? It's less $$ than the RS custom and special, though it has a Wilkinson bridge, lacquered ebony board, set neck, mahogany body, and Fryer/Adeson custom pickups. Not customizable, obviously, being an 'official' repro.

What are the specs of yours going to be?

After this, you'll need some AC-30s and a treble booster ;).

I _covet_ that.

A Brian May -style guitar has been on my want list for a long time.

This is just a gorgeous example. Enjoy it!

They're not that expensive. A new one costs about 800$. The old ones are about 2.5k.

I'm thinking about the high end ones with the accurate construction (oak/blockboard), hardware etc. There's far more accurate guitars available now than the old Guilds - K'z (who was building his own 2000-08, now in charge of the Super) and EW being the main contenders. So I wonder if the price of the Guilds will come down a bit...

The regular BMG is decently priced...except here in Australia - $1799 :thumbsdow :grumble:.

If people want something close to the real thing, BMG Super or EW is the way to go.
