Running a 5W Class A Amp Rated @ Min 4 Ohms Through a 8ohm 1x12 Cabinet?

Please excuse the picture if it's sideways, my iPad doesn't like posting them much? So this is my lil Champion 600 5w amp, it's a great sounding little thing but not so much through the stupid little 6 inch speaker that's in it, it sounds so, so much better through a 1x12! I've got the cabinet in the pic freed up @ the moment because my 50w NT50G1 is down until I can get it to a tech, which is going to be a while because I live hundreds of miles away from one & just the head weighs like 60 lbs so shipping it will be crazy!

Anyway, just for turds & squirts I hooked up the 600 to the 1x12 & it really does sound amazing!!! I know this is kind of a back to basics question but I never really got the whole 4 ohm min. thing? I get that a 4 ohm head needs a 4 ohm cab, a 8 ohm head needs a 8, & my 16 ohm mono 2X12 should be running out of the 1x16 ohm jack in back of my TS15 amp, but does 4 ohm min mean there's some leeway? Can I safely run this 8 ohm 1X12 cabinet out of the back of the 600?

My plan is to eventually remove the chassis out of the 600 combo & make a little open face head out of it? I realize that it would be upside down afterwards but I think I can still make it pretty cool looking & when I do I'll probably just get a 1X12 4 ohm speaker for it? Maybe a paint job as well, give it a kinda hand painted boutique look??? In any case for now I have the 8 ohm 1X12 and it sounds great, I just want to be sure nothing blows up on me!!!

You're fine. Rock on.

I love 5 watt tube amps through a 1x12. Really, any tube amp around 20w or less through a 1x12 sounds pretty good. I start to like 2x12's (or more) with some 15w and up tube amps too though.

Anyway, that sound sound pretty good IMO.

4 ohm minimum means just that: don't run any speaker or combination thereof that gives less than 4 ohms of resistance. Running greater resistance will just cut the volume a bit while running less than that will damage the amp.
