Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Yep recycling again.
The Kramer is paying its dues again, JB/Demon hybrid(or was it the 59? man I forgot, changed them too many times I guess) and APS-1's.
Using a Conquest 65R combo, dunno I am not that hot on that one, but it is a smooth clean amp, just not much of the midrange and punch I like, so I fought that damn thing some!
But the track was entertaining, it was one of my asymetrical versions of the overdrive.
Even using that overdrive did not give me the bite I wanted, but what the hell....can't win everytime;)

Well it's great stuff as far as I'm concerned. It's got everything. Scott Henderson? He's just an amateur in comparison.

Trouble is - I seem to be the only guy that likes this sort of stuff.

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Heh Henderson is awesome, but I like Landau better myself, he has that old feel of Beck and Hendrix to him, and I love that alot.
I just went for pure blues feel on this one:duh: hehe well it is a blues;)
And I suck at blues so I had to do it my own way.
Thanks Lee, I think that we are not the only ones who likes this kind of music:D

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

That is a hell of a track. At times the tone reminded me of SRV. Very entertaining and I though the tone was great on that... fit in perfectly with the bass and drums. Very cool.

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Thanks RGN, most kind of you.
Heh yeah I am not hot on the amps sound, but as you pointed out, it somewhat fits.
It will probally get modded to a different sound and hopefully a bigger one.

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Yo, Rid, nice stuff. Hey, remember that thread you made of those two guys jamming on a blues track and you said you would post the backing? Can you post the backing soon? Or maybe even that recording of the two guys jamming, it was really good.

Oh, BTW, don't worry about the tone on this recording... I really like it. Here's yet another example of differing tonal tastes. I thought that tone was quite good, but it was probably just not what you were aiming for. I'm the same way... I've showed stuff to my guitar teacher asking opinions and he said that the tone was proffessional quality, but I just wasn't satisfied with it right then. But then I'll go back and listen to some of the stuff (having forgotten "that perfect tone" I was striving for by now) and am amazed by some of the stuff that I got.

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Trust me it is just because of the good console and mic I have at my disposeal, I did not add anything, it is just an anemaenic amp.
It is small sounding, does not really have any balls, the mids are gone, the bass is too deep and unfocused, plus it really does not sound right.
I had to use the low channel to even make it accept the overdrive, a drummer would wipe this amp out faster than lightning, my Bassman and Hiwatt makes mincemeat out of this one, plus when I get my AC-15 clone and Selmer back....uh bye bye soddy combo, until it gets fixed for normal guitar useage.
I think that it is made for clean Jazz guitars.
It just does not sound right.
I call it the can;)
It close to useless, and will see no more action until something has been done to it.
Hehe it is just a tryout amp, it failed, ok it is not as bad as I make it to be, but it falls apart against my other very good amps, even the close to going down Bassman eats it alive for breakfast, and the Hiwatt kicks it away in standby mode:laugh2::burnout:

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

When you get that AC-15 clone, you owe us some recordings. :)

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Heh depends on when our old tubeamp tech will get it back in buisness again....He is busy as hell right now, he have products that where supposed to be out a long time ago;)
So he is pretty badly hung up right now, anyways it is a nice amp, it has an AC-30 preamp, and slightly bigger output trafo, so it does not break up as early like the org. ones.

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Well it is a classic sound, had one from 67 once a TB, ended up selling it for alot more than I bought it for.
I still shake my head over that one, deeply amusing deal.

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Hey Rid nice tone.

Hey where'd u get the track? Can i have it? - I love this song by Robben Ford

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

rid,
nothing wrong with the tone on that one! It's kind of a fusion tone that some players pay good money for! ;)

I think I know what you're saying, though. the thing that clips don't convey is the way the amp feels, and how you experience playing it. I guess it's most easily explained by using the term "touch sensitivity" - I know my tweed amps have a softer feel, and push easier. more fun to play, IMO.

I have a compilation disc called
"Rattlesnake Guitar, The Music of Peter Green" . Your clip reminds me of some of the tones on that disc ... clean but gainy blues playing.

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Yeah Curly that is what is amiss.
Lol I just think I like more old style amps better, had a small Blues Jr once, that was a marvelous sounding amp, it got better when I changed the speaker to an oldstyle Jensen like speaker, it almost had that woddy earthy tone you have...almost;)
Guess I like that better...hehe

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

i actually think thats an awesome tone

i think position two on a strat would sound cool with it, or a neck single coil

nice trem work in this :)

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Hehe thanks, well I used all positions..trust me;)
I love to flick the switch around.
You can even hear when I used it,,,,click click.
:laugh2:
Nah way to nice and lacking most of what I like, but it is playable and can get useable tones to say something.

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

lol yeah i heard you using the different positions :)

its just the kinda tone i'd use with that kinda pup selection

i'll have the amp if you dont want it ;)

Re: Running a few lines over Help the poor.

Rid your killing me over here! I had every intention of recording something today but after fighting with my computer all last night to try and get the new sound card set up properly and then listening to you rip it up on this one I think I am going to take the rest of the weekend off. I throw in the towel before even starting :smack:
