I see, so you're saying you have to pair the split coils either outer/inner for south/north or inner/outer for north/south to get the polarity for hum canceling.
If you only flipped one magnet in a humbucker wouldn't you end up with north/north or south/south and no hum canceling when the humbucker isn't being paired with the other pickup?
Before you flip things around screws are south.
So HH is:
south/north .... north/south
outer/inner ..... inner/outer <just want to confirm this is what you meant
bridge ............ neck
So to get hum canceling with both on and each split you cannot use the two outer (screw) coils. . .
