RWRP Tele pickup sets?

Greetings all! It's been a while since I've been here. I have a Warmoth Telecaster that I put together a few years ago into which I put an SD Broadcaster set. I like them a lot. However we recently replaced the Hvac unit in our house. And for whatever reason, now when the thing is running, 60 cycle hum is gawd awful loud! Worse with the switch on both and way worse with both on in series. I'm thinking about moving the Broadcaster set on and replacing it with something else since I most often run with both pickups on. Currently, on the website the only true single coil set that mentions RWRP at all is Antiquity I. Back when I bought this set, if I remember correctly, the Broadcaster set was the only one that was not RWRP. Can anyone say for sure which sets are RWRP these days? Ahem, since the website is not inclined to divulge this information anymore!

As I'm typing this, I'm thinking maybe it would be cheaper just to have the custom shop make me a RWRP Broadcaster neck pu. I`'ll have to look into that.

Anyway, thanks in advance for any advice you can give.

Cheers........................Todd

Welcome (back) to the forum!

Is there hum when you bring your guitar to another location and plug it in? Also, do other guitars hum in your house? I am sure there are some Tele experts here that know which sets are rw/rp as that's not listed on the main site.

This is interesting. I've always just assumed that all Tele sets were hum-cancelling. Maybe not.

Thanks Mincer! It's funny, I could swear that back when I first joined I had been involved in the odd discussion. But when I posted last night I saw that it was my first post.

Yes all of my other single coil guitars hum when the A/C is running if they are on just one pickup. However when I'm seated in my chair the hum is not bad even with the Tele. It's mostly when they're sitting on their stands and I forget to turn the volume knob down. Or if I'm standing I have to make sure they are facing the right direction. The furnace is right beneath my music room in the basement.

Yeah, the Broadcaster set used to say specifically that they were not hum cancelling. And maybe now they are and that's the reason why they don't bother to mention it anymore.

If you like your tone otherwise, I would consider the HumX first. It may do it for the kind of noise you’re describing

https://www.amazon.com/Ebtech-Hum-Plug-Style-Eliminator-Cleaning/dp/B07W682STV

If it doesn’t do it, just return it :)

Thanks Blillie For the suggestion.
I don't think it's coming through the mains since I can eliminate it by positioning the guitar just right. Wouldn't hurt to try though.

Alternatively, instead of ordering a full set I would just order the neck pickup again but RWRP through a dealer since it’s a SD custom floor option.

May just have to do that. I'll try giving them a call one of these days if I can get a moment free during business hours.
