Salvation Army rocks!

I just got an amazing new pedal enclosure for my next DIY pedal. Which will be the univox square wave shaper. I will also throw in a runoffgroove.com Condor 4x10 cab simulator for recording purposes. it should be sweet.

anyways, the enclosure cost me $.50. It's a lunch box. But not just any lunch box, it's a Thermos SilverHawks lunch box. ;)

here's a pic:

four knobs in the four corners, the on/off switch in the middle and all of the inputs/output on the sides....

Man, I used to watch that show all the time as a kid. I even had the toys!

I'd be careful with that Thermos plastic as my lunchboxes and related Thermos items always seemed to crack and show obvious signs of wear after prolonged use...

Re: Salvation Army rocks!

yeah i had that same box with a teenage mutant ninja turtle's sticker...it wore out after like three years, and that was using it to store food and nothing else. seems like stomping on it like you would a pedal would destroy it in no time.

it'll LOOK sweet tho.

k, thanks for the heads up. It seems fairly sturdy to me. I won't be putting it in a backpack and throwing it around though.

Cream, I've been thinking all day about what I can mod and put the guts of your pedal in. What keeps coming back in my head is something like a big ass desk calculator, like this:

It's what I have on my desk (company's not mine). But that particular model is slightly too big to be portable enough. But what I want is one where you can use both the calculator and pedal at the same time, on one power source. So you can be adding or whatever, and also rocking out! Friggin great idea.

Gonna keep thinking...

haha, I don't know if that is totally possible. I have a ~1" speaker here that I could use. just make a seperate compartment for the pedal stuff and then have the speaker coming out the top....:laugh2:

That's funny....I bought my beloved 'Buckwheat' Lunchbox at Salvation Army for $1.50. I keep smoking utensils in it.

It has pictures of Buckwheat all over the sides and back, but here's a pic of the front.

Re: Salvation Army rocks!

Buckwheat rules. When I saw the box at Salvation Army, they actually annouced that it was 'half price day,' so I think that Buckwheat lunchbox was only 75 cents!

Re: Salvation Army rocks!

ah, salvation army rules. I got a sansui 80x2 receiver there a long time ago for a measley $8 and used it as a power amp. Was very awesome until it shorted somehow during a live session...it did make it through to the end, but after that day, it never powered up again.
